Severus Snape attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a student from 1970 to 1977.As a first-year student at Hogwarts, Severus Snape knew more hexes and curses than most seventh-years, although his bookish demeanor and unattractive appearance made him an outsider and object of scorn. He also had a fascination with the Dark Arts. Severus Snape suffered relentless teasing and bullying from a group of Gryffindors whom called themselves the Marauders. This group contained Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew and James Potter. One known case of this bullying, or pranking as the marauders liked to label it was when Sirius Black tricked Severus into going to the Shrieking Shack, where Remus Lupin was confined during his werewolf transformations. He could have been killed had James not intervened, although Snape believed he only warned him to avoid expulsion from Hogwarts, none of the students were truly disciplined for their actions. While studying at Hogwarts Severus Snape belonged to a gang of Slytherins which included: Bellatrix Black, Rodolphus Lestrange, Avery, Wilkes and Evan Rosier. Famous Interactions between Hermione Granger and Severus Snape. Philosophers Stone During the first quidditch game Harry's Nimbus Two Thousand is going crazy, almost throwing Harry off. Meanwhile, Hermione discovers Snape muttering words and believes he must be jinxing the broom. She speeds over to Snape to prevent Harry falling, knocking Professor Quirrell head first into the row in front of him. She sets fire to Snape's robes, managing to distract Snape and thereby getting Harry safe to the ground. Prisoner of Azkaban A few cauldrons away, Neville was in trouble. Neville regularly went to pieces in Potions lessons; it was his worst subject, and his great fear of Professor Snape made things ten times worse. His potion, which was supposed to be a bright, acid green, had turned— "Orange, Longbottom," said Snape, ladling some up and allowing to splash back into the cauldron, so that everyone could see. "Orange. Tell me, boy, does anything penetrate that thick skull of yours? Didn't you hear me say, quite clearly, that only one bat spleen was needed? Didn't I state plainly that a dash of leech juice would suffice? What do I have to do to make you understand, Longbottom?" Neville was pink and trembling. He looked as though he was on the verge of tears. "Please, sir," said Hermione, "please, I could help Neville put it right—" "I don't remember asking you to show off, Miss Granger," said Snape coldly, and Hermione went as pink as Neville. "Longbottom, at the end of this lesson we will feed a few drops of this potion to your toad and see what happens. Perhaps that will encourage you to do it properly." One interaction has been imortalised in fan fiction. 90% of Snape fiction contain some or all of this quote. "That is the second time you have spoken out of turn, Miss Granger," said Snape coolly. "Five more points from Gryffindor for being an insufferable know-it-all." Goblet of Fire "Densaugeo!" screamed Malfoy. "Hermione!" "And what is all this noise about?" said a soft, deadly voice. Snape had arrived. The Slytherins clamored to give their explanations; Snape pointed a long yellow finger at Malfoy and said, "Explain." "Malfoy got Hermione!" Ron said. "Look!" He forced Hermione to show Snape her teeth—she was doing her best to hide them with her hands, though this was difficult as they had now grown down past her collar. Pansy Parkinson and the other Slytherin girls were doubled up with silent giggles, pointing at Hermione from behind Snape's back. Snape looked coldly at Hermione, then said, "I see no difference." Quotes. “You are here to learn the subtle science and exact art of potion making,” “I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses ... I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death -- if you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach.” "Fascinating though your social life undoubtedly is, Miss Granger, I must ask you not to discuss it in my class. Ten points from Gryffindor." "Moronic though some of this class undoubtedly are, I expect you to scrape an 'Acceptable' in your O.W.L., or suffer my... displeasure." "Another ten points from Gryffindor. I would expect nothing more sophisticated from you, Ronald Weasley, the boy so solid he cannot Apparate half an inch across a room." "The Dark Arts are many, varied, ever-changing and eternal. Fighting them is like fighting a many-headed monster, which, each time a neck is severed, sprouts a head even fiercer and cleverer than before. You are fighting that which is unfixed, mutating, indestructible." "Oh, very good," interrupted Snape, his lip curling. "Yes, it is easy to see that nearly six years of magical education have not been wasted on you, Potter. 'Ghosts are transparent.'" "You might be labouring under the delusion that the entire wizarding world is impressed with you," Snape went on, so quietly that no one else could hear him, "but I don't care how many times your picture appears in the papers. To me, Potter, you are nothing but a nasty little boy who considers rules to be beneath him." Do you have some special information about Severus you would like us to feature here?
